In addition, Premier is involved in an array of charitable endeavors in our community and across the Southeast.

charity: water – Bangladesh, Project 3

Bangledesh Latrines ProjectOur third project we funded for charity: water was completed in Bangladesh in September of 2017. Premier funded a water project that provided a water point and sanitation facilities at the Maheshwaripur Najd Kantaram Memorial United Academy. The 235 students and teachers will now have access to clean and safe drinking water.

In our completion letter, the CEO of charity: water, Scott Harrison, told us a story from his experience in Bangladesh. He wrote, “In Bangladesh, No. 57 Government Primary School didn’t have a bathroom. A student named Khadija used a neighbor’s toilet who lived close to school. However, boys in the neighborhood would follow her and yell at her. One day a crew of kids crushed stones on top of Khadija’s head. The teasing was mostly about being poor. “You have to go someplace else to get water – to beg for water!” “I’d feel really bad coming to school,” Khadija said. “I’d tell my parents that the boys are bullies, and I shouldn’t have to go to school.” However, now, she and more than 300 students at her school have separate latrines for boys and girls. The students and teachers received training in handwashing, personal hygiene, disease prevention, and menstrual hygiene. All of this has helped drive down waterborne illness by 15%. The kids are healthier, and more kids show up for school each day, too!”

charity: water – Ethiopia, Project 2

Ethiopia Project March 2015Our second project we funded for charity: water was completed in March 2015. A hand-dug well was installed to give the 670 students and teachers of Meshil Elementary School clean and safe drinking water. In recalling a memory, Scott Harrison, CEO of charity water wrote, “A grieving village elder, bursting out in anger and frustration after a well has been drilled in his village. “Do you mean to tell me that clean water was here…beneath our feet…this whole time, and we’ve been breaking our backs, walking for hours to get dirty water from a swamp?’.”

Premier, is so proud to fund these projects on behalf of our customers and prospects. When we receive the images from the communities that now have safe drinking water, it is very heart-warming and makes us appreciate the abundance of water we have access to, and often take for granted. charity: water – Ethiopia, Project 1

Ethiopia Project December 2014Premier has completed our first project with charity: water. charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Our first donation funded a hand-dug well for the 250 people of the May Berbere community in Ethiopia. Scott Harrison, CEO of charity: water, has visited the countries that are now benefiting from his efforts. In our completion letter, he told us about some of the people he met in Ethiopia. “An Ethiopian woman weeping with joy as she points towards the heavens and declares, ‘The water, it’s fallen from the sky…’. A Ugandan woman named Helen, who serves on her village’s water committee and now has enough water to bathe herself – she tells us, ‘Now, I am beautiful.’”

Premier Water is looking forward to many more projects with charity: water that will help the lives of people around the world. Every person deserves to have access to clean and safe drinking water, and we are happy to be a part of the solution.
